Creating a museum exhibit lesson plan. In this lesson, students create their own online museum, displaying artifacts and the stories that go with them to engage others in the heritage of their community. It includes collaborative projects, a museum exhibition, and assessments to enhance understanding of Canadian geography, human landscapes, and symbols. It takes a variety of skills to pull off a successful exhibit, and collaboration is key. National Archives and the Library of Congress provide primary-source lesson plans and ready-made classroom materials. In addition to the Big Idea, students will need to develop an exhibit title, understand and convey the historical context, provide an analysis of the artifacts, create the exhibit floor plan, and make artifact markers. Museums collect objects, care for them, and use them to help people understand the world around them. The middle contains the bulk of the information of an exhibit and most of its artifacts.
